Welding & Metal Fabrication
Year 1: 12 credits

This programming will prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills in creating products using precision crafting and technical illustration in the welding industry. Areas of study include: principles of metallurgy, identifying and maintaining welding tools and consumables, reading welding blueprints, operating shearing, punching, and forming equipment, performing oxy-fuel welding tasks and much more. Introduction in the core pathway competencies will include preparation for AWS (American Welding Society) certification. A student will be prepared for entry level employment and post high school training upon completion of the program. Assessment is directly connected to successfully completing the competencies; to include visual identification, performance based testing, qualifying for credentialing, and portfolio completion All Seniors are eligible, if they have satisfactorily completed the program competencies, to participate in a co-op education experience where they will work at a worksite directly connected to their program.


Year 2: 12 credits

Second year students review safety procedures and learn more new and varied construction techniques. Second year students are also given more of a leadership role and are expected to perform tasks with less guidance.

Embedded Credit: Program Completer shall receive 4 embedded academic math credits that can be used to satisfy graduation requirements.
